Advanced Group Permissions and more

by Paul Janssen, Innovation Manager
Improvements

Member profile page

We've overhauled the Member profile pages. There are now dedicated tabs for various info and settings:

  • Profile: see the member's profile info, like company, address, custom fields, etc

  • Participation (only shown when inside a course): see the learner's history, certificate, results.

  • Assignments: see all roles/assignments of the member. If you have permission, then you can assign new groups, courses, programs, etc. You can also change the role of the member.

  • Account (for managers only): view and manage the user's Email/username, access code, external IDs, deactivation date, etc, etc.

Decentralized group and member management

There is new “advanced group permissions” feature, which (when enabled) features:

  • Domain managers can delegate member management to "Group Managers" (as defined per group)

  • Group managers can only create and modify members within their own group(s).

  • Group managers can only view learning results of the members within their group(s).

  • When setting the permission of a course, a group manager can only select (members of) his own groups. E.g. he cannot assign other groups/member to the course.

Please contact us to enable the advanced group permissions feature.

Course/ program settings

  • There is now a dedicated “Permissions” tab where you can control the visibility and enrollment settings. The “Seat limit” field has moved to the “General” tab.

  • On the “Permissions” tab you can now specify which Groups of members should be “automatically enrolled” in the course (or program). Previously, this had to be done by domain-level managers under Setup > Groups.

Miscellaneous

  • The Setup section now has crumb-style navigation

  • Added support for images in WebP and HEIC format

Various improvements

Improvements
Bug Fixes

We have just released some improvements that we think you'll appreciate:

  • Audio Playback: Now you can make audio playback mandatory in courses. Similar to video content, you have the flexibility to set the minimum percentage of audio that must be played before learners can proceed to the next step.

  • Hyperlink Insertion: You can now directly insert hyperlinks in Programs, Hand-picked widgets, and the Navigation bars. This eliminates the need to navigate through the Setup section to add a link.

  • We fixed an ugly 500 error that occurred when performing bulk edits on members.

Improvements to Start Pages and Editor

by Paul Janssen, Innovation Manager
Improvements

Start pages

  • Place widgets side-by-side by choosing one of the new 2 and 3 column layouts.

  • Add video, images, and text blocks directly on the start pages for short introduction messages.

Further changes

  • The "Arrange blocks" function has moved to the Edit mode of the Page and Start page editor.

  • Date and Time pickers have been replaced with browser/platform native controls. This is especially handy when you're using Coursepath on iOS or Android.

  • A new “Time” filter is added to the Members page in a courses, as well as in the Participants report.

  • Images in rich text content can now be zoomed by clicking on them.

Bugfixes

Bug Fixes

We're excited to let you know that we've fixed a couple of bugs:

  1. Sometimes, the banner wouldn't show important course details like duration, start and end dates. That has been resolved now.

  2. Previously, the Course Visits report wouldn't display all the data when the selected period crossed daylight saving time. But now, all the data is included again.

We apologize for any trouble these bugs may have caused and thank you for your patience while we sorted them out.

Improved navigation and Page headings

Improvements

Improved navigation

  • The toolbar will be updated to provide a more consistent and predictable experience. Using the familiar breadcrumb navigation style, you will be able to easily see where you are in the course.

  • The course tool menu (with options such as Events and Glossary) will be moved to the course home page.

  • The top-level navigation bar will always be visible, so all your key Academy destinations will be just a click away.

Page headings

  • You will be able to make your pages stand out by applying new headline styles. Display the page's featured image, author and publication date.

Editing options for courses

Improvements
  • On 8 May we’ve made a change to Coursepath, where members with academy-level writing permissions would no longer see the page edit buttons, once they explicitly got the "Participant" role in a course. This change has now been reverted: the editing options are now visible again for those with appropriate permission (managers and authors).

  • Similarly, the table of contents is now again the startpage of the course — for those with the right permissions. The “About” page will be shown to people who are not enrolled and cannot edit the course.

  • Furthermore, we have restored the option to delete a saved report. You can find the delete link in the "Save report" dialog.

Fixes for May 10th

Bug Fixes

We are receiving some great feedback on our latest Coursepath release! Thank you all for your support, and for reporting those pesky new-release issues.

These are the things we’ve improved today:

  • In some rare occasions the table of contents would display unfinished learning steps more than once.

  • In some rare occasions the previous/next buttons in a course would not function.

  • The section execution preference would not be saved.
